Dumpster Rental FAQ for Indiana, PA
Real answers from the two brothers who own the trucks. Prices, sizes, what goes in the can, all of it. Still stuck? Call and one of us picks up.
Questions We Hear Every Week
These are the questions that come up on our phone over and over. How much. What size. Can a fridge go in. Do I need a permit. So we put every answer in one spot.
We're Tyler and Travis Trowbridge, and we own Black Diamond Dumpsters. We drive the trucks and we answer the phone, so the answers here are the same ones you'd get if you called us right now. Same prices too. Don't see your question? Call or text (888) 451-8007 and ask.

Prices and Payment
One flat price per size. Here's what's in it and what isn't.

Our rates run from $365 for a 10 yard up to $750 for a 40 yard. That covers drop off, pickup, a 7 day rental, and a set amount of weight. The only thing that moves the number is going over your tonnage, which runs $95 a ton.
Delivery, a full week to fill it, pickup, and the landfill fee. Plus the tonnage that comes with your size, which is 2 tons on the 10 and 12, 3 tons on the 15 and 20, and 4 tons on the 30 and 40. No fuel charge. No environmental fee bolted on at the end.
It's $95 a ton, taken right off the scale ticket. We don't mark it up. Most household and remodel loads stay under without trying, but concrete and shingles get heavy fast, so tell us what you're tossing and we'll steer you to the right can.
No. The price you hear is everything except weight overage and a few special disposal items like fridges. No fuel surcharge, and no extra fee for being outside of town anywhere inside our 50 mile radius.
Same as a week. Every rental runs 7 days standard, so a 3 day job just means you finish early. Tell us when you book and we'll swing by for it sooner.
Depends how much you've got. One or two pickup loads, the dump is probably cheaper. Past four or five loads you're burning your Saturday and a tank of gas and your back is shot and you saved maybe nothing, and that's right about where a can in the driveway wins.
Picking the Right Size
Six sizes, from a tight driveway 10 to a 40 for real demo work.

For most home projects the 20 yard is the sweet spot. A garage cleanout usually fits in a 12, a whole house cleanout wants a 30, and big construction jobs take the 40. When in doubt, go one size up. It's way cheaper than ordering a second can.
They take up about the same driveway spot. The 12 holds noticeably more inside for ten dollars more, so if your pile is borderline that's the easy upgrade.
Room, not weight. Both come with 3 tons. The 20 just gives you more space and runs $485 instead of $425. Heavy pile that isn't huge? Take the 15. Going to run out of room? Take the 20.
Yeah, on most houses. The 20 is the size we send for roof jobs more than any other. But shingles weigh a ton, and then some, so tell us it's a roof when you book and we'll walk you through the weight.
Go by the job, not the guess. A 20 is the workhorse for kitchen remodels, roof tear offs and big single room cleanouts. A 30 is for emptying a whole house or a construction job with real volume. On the fence? Size up. Overflowing a 20 costs you more than the bump to a 30 ever will.
Go 40 when the job has real volume and you don't want to swap cans halfway. Go 30 for a big cleanout that isn't a full commercial or demo job. Still stuck? Call and one of us will tell you which way your job leans.
Delivery, Driveways and Permits
How the can gets to you, where it sits, and how long you keep it.

Three steps. You call and pick a size, we drop the can where you want it, then you fill it and we haul it off. You get 7 days standard and you never stand in a landfill line yourself.
Call before noon and same day is often on the table. After that, we'll usually have it to you the next day. Give us a ring and we'll tell you the soonest we can be there.
Almost always. Even the bigger cans park along a normal driveway without boxing in your car. We set it right where you want it and can put boards down to save your concrete. Tight spot? Tell us and we'll make it work.
On your own property, no permit needed. Drop it in the driveway and you're set. If the can has to sit on the street, the borough usually wants to know first and the rules change from town to town, so bring it up when you book and we'll help you sort it out.
Seven days come standard with every rental. Need it longer? Tell us up front and we'll work something out. Fill it early and we'll come get it sooner. Just call.
Nope. Most folks are at work when we deliver. Leave us a note on where you want it and we handle the rest, and pickup works the same way.
What Can and Can't Go In
Most stuff goes right in. A few things can't, and guessing wrong costs money.

Anything liquid, flammable or hazardous stays out. That covers wet paint, motor oil, solvents, chemicals, propane tanks, batteries and tires. TVs, monitors and anything with refrigerant like a fridge get handled separately. A few of these we can still take for an extra disposal fee, so call before you toss it.
Yes. Washers, dryers and stoves go right in. Fridges, freezers and AC units are different because of the refrigerant sealed inside, so we take those as a separate disposal item for a fee. Just ask when you book.
Not in the can with everything else. Fridges hold refrigerant and TVs fall under the state's electronics rules, so both run as a separate disposal item. We can usually still take them. Say so when you book and you'll get the fee up front.
Yep. Mattresses, box springs, couches, recliners, all of it goes right in. A couch eats up way less room than people expect, so even a 15 yard holds a sectional, a mattress and a pile of boxes with space to spare.
Dried out latex paint cans, yes. Liquid paint, no. Pop the lids off and let them harden in the garage for a few days, or toss some kitty litter in to speed it up. Once it's solid it goes in with everything else.
Sure can. Just watch the weight. Dirt and concrete are the heaviest stuff there is, and a few wheelbarrows can eat your whole tonnage. Call first and we'll point you at the right size so the scale ticket doesn't surprise you.
Usually the scale house catches it and we get charged, which means you get charged. Not a fun call for either of us. Ask first and it never becomes a problem.
Junk Removal
Don't want to load it yourself? We'll do the lifting.

Want a week to work at your own pace? Rent the dumpster. Want it gone today without lifting anything heavier than a phone? That's junk removal. Not sure which saves you money? Call and we'll run you through both prices in about three minutes.
It depends on how much you've got and how far we have to carry it. A single item pickup is cheap. A full garage or a house cleanout runs more because it's more truck space and more hours. You tell us what's there, we give you a real number, and that's the number.
Just about anything two people can carry. Furniture, mattresses, appliances, boxes, yard junk and scrap from a remodel. Fridges, freezers and AC units run as a separate disposal item, and we stay away from anything liquid, flammable or hazardous.
Yes, and those are some of the most important jobs we do. We clear whole houses after a loss or when things have gotten to be too much. No judgment, ever. We go at a pace you're comfortable with, and when we're done the place is empty and swept.
Where We Deliver
Home base is Indiana, PA. We run cans 50 miles in every direction, including Indiana, Homer City, Blairsville, Punxsutawney, Johnstown, Clymer, Marion Center, Shelocta, Saltsburg, Creekside, Ernest and Armagh.
We do. Fifty miles in any direction is the honest edge of where we run. Some days the schedule is packed and a far run waits a day, but the distance itself isn't the holdup.
Nope. The quote you get already covers the drive out and back, whatever town you're in. So Johnstown pays what Homer City pays. No mileage fee tacked on later. One number.
Call anyway. The line on a map is a guess, not a wall. If you're a little past it and the week works out, there's a decent shot we make the trip. Asking is free.
